Interesting Stamp Facts

Agoutis are rodents that look like large, ground-dwelling squirrels. They are sometimes referred to as red-rumped agoutis. They have reddish-brown fur, long hind legs, and a bushy tail. The orange-rumped agouti is found in Central and South America. Its back and sides are brown, and its belly is lighter. The orange rump for which it is named is located just above the base of the tail. Agoutis are excellent swimmers and climbers.

One of the most popular animals on Grenada is the agouti. These furry creatures are often featured on stamps and are a national symbol of the island. Although they look cute, agoutis can be quite aggressive and are known to bite humans. If you intend to visit Grenada, be sure to keep your distance from these wild animals!
