Edward Lear Stamps

This beautiful Edward Lear presentation pack commemorates 100 years since the death of the prolific artist and writer. The presentation pack includes beautiful illustrations from works such as The Owl and the Pussycat and the limerick “There Was a Young Lady Whose Bonnet”.

Edward Lear (1812-1888) was an English artist, illustrator, author and poet, best known for his literary nonsense in poetry and prose. His most famous works include The Owl and the Pussycat, The Jumblies and The Dong with a Luminous Nose.

Here is an example of a limerick by Edward Lear:

There was an Old Man with a beard,

Who said, “It is just as I feared!

Two Owls and a Hen, Four Larks and a Wren,

Have all built their nests in my beard!”
